Founded in 2005, BizzComm has already greatly impacted the history of the CUS through the development of inspiring events that focus on developing communication and networking skills. To date, BizzComm has been awarded the CUS Top Club of the year three times, with the most recent being 2013. The club has since continued to grow and produced some of the most recognizable events on campus, most notably SpeakOut, UBC’s largest public speaking contest. Because of this, we pride ourselves on offering top-quality events and welcome any and all students that want to “Be Bold, Be Heard.”
The purpose of the UBC Business Communications Club (BizzComm) is to ensure all students have the opportunity to develop excellent communication skills and strong networking abilities. In this competitive world, BizzComm strongly believes that these traits are necessary in order to thrive in any career path.
At the University of British Columbia, we are given the tools to be successful, but many students are not aware of how to properly communicate these tools to the right people in an effective manner due to weak communication skills or ineffective networking abilities. With this belief, our events are designed to help students improve these two traits regardless of their faculty or level of communication and networking abilities.
Why you should join and what does “Be Bold. Be Heard.” mean?
Our slogan for 2013-2014 is the phrase that we stand behind and live by. We strive to help our members develop skills to give them the confidence they need to have a voice. Being bold means having the poise to truly be yourself and have the compelling presence that makes others notice. We want to ensure that our members can improve upon how they communicate their opinions because we know that UBC’s students are tomorrow’s leaders. So, “Be Bold, Be Heard” and get excited for BizzComm’s 2013-2014 event lineup!
