Clubs Night
Written on 2010-08-02 23:13:20

It’s September, and one word comes to mind: CLUBS. Imagine Day, Clubs
Week, Business Week, promotions at the SUB; every club seems to be looking for new members within the three-week time span, and UBC turns into a bustling chaos of booths and scrunched up neon flyers.

As a student looking to be an active member in a CUS business club, you will pull out your brand new UBC agenda and look through the hundreds of different club names and vague 3-sentence descriptions that all seem to sound… exactly the same?

Let’s work this out. Should you join the Marketing Association? But what if you’re more of a Finance Club person? Then again, this International Business Club sounds like a lot of fun. But what is that club really about anyway? So you go to the Imagine Day club fair or Clubs Week @ the SUB, and find the booths for more info.
You pick up a brochure and sign your name and email on the clipboard to receive an informative email on this club… along with 20 other clubs. Wait, what was that club about? Why did I sign up for that one again? Why do AdvertisInc. and UBCMA start to sound exactly the same, and where was that brochure for HRM Club? You can’t
seem to remember what every booth you visited that day was about, and you come home to about 40 new emails.

What you really need is an efficient, less time-consuming way to compare these different clubs. You need to understand what each club is about and what they have to offer other than free pens and cookies, at the same place and time. You need to be able to choose one club that appeals most to you, while avoiding the hassle of Clubs and Business Weeks.

What you really need is to attend CLUBS NIGHT on SEPTEMBER 10, hosted
by the Business Communications Club.

Clubs Night is a 3-hour event that gathers one representative from each of the top CUS clubs to provide an information session with short presentations, interactive activities, places to sit, and free food. This is a great chance to meet all the CUS clubs at the same time, and to get your questions answered during the mingling session after the presentations.

Come to SUB 207/208 on SEPT 10 @ 5PM. We promise it’ll be short and
painless ;)
